One of Malawi’s hospitality and tourism firms, Amaryllis Hotel has described the ongoing Intra African Trade Fair 2021 (IATF2021), as an opportunity for growth of Malawi’s tourism industry.
This is according to the Hotel’s Sales and Marketing Manager Khaira Surtee who in an interview with Prime Time News, described the progress of the fair as a success to their company.
Surtee said as of day four of the event, the hotel has met several prominent people in the world who have shown interest to visit the country and in particular their Hotel.
She told this publication that she is so hopeful that by the end of the Intra African Trade Fair 2021 this coming Sunday, the country will be one of the world’s reliable and exciting hospitality and tourism destination.
“The event is huge; there are many delegates, VIPs and exhibitors from all parts of the globe. It’s a busy and exciting environment. We hope it will bring more interest and increase international travel In Malawi as a whole.
“So far we have sparked a lot of interest and visibility in Durban South Africa, we want to increase our visibility and improve the hospitality and tourism sector in Malawi as a whole. We are truly pleased to have been able to be apart of this important trade fair,” said Surtee.
The Sales and Marketing Manger further said Amaryllis Hotel wants to be the hotel of choice.
Surtee further said the hotel is so glad to have their pavilion visited by Malawi president Dr Lazarus Chakwera who was one of the guests who presided over the official launch of the trade fair.
“We’ve managed to meet some Key people and sell our products. We’ve also met with his Excellency Dr Lazarus Chakwera himself; who complimented us and I quote; ‘Amaryllis has improved the tourism sector in Malawi, keep it up’,” she added.
This is the second Intra-African Trade Fair and it is taking place in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, it was officially opened on 15 November and is expected to close this Sunday 21 November 2021.
The Intra-African Trade Fair, is the key event boosting trade in Africa and it brings together more professionals under single market for goods and services across the world, aiming at boosting trade and investment.
