The Higher Education Students’ Loans and Grants Board has announced a new online loan application process, scheduled to commence from May 1 to June 30, 2024.
During a press conference in Blantyre, the Board’s Executive Director, Prince Phwetekere, emphasized that this digital initiative aims to facilitate smoother loan disbursement.
Phwetekere further disclosed that the Board has launched a targeted program to support 288 Open Distance Learning (ODL) females studying fields such as education, agriculture, ICT, and energy. This initiative, supported by the World Bank, seeks to promote equal access to tertiary education.
Additionally, Phwetekere highlighted the Board’s notable progress in loan recovery, noting an increase in monthly collections from K40 million to K100 million.
